Rent a Room scheme
First £7,500/year of rent from lodgers in your home is tax-free.
The Rent a Room scheme exempts the first £7,500/year (£3,750 per joint owner) of rental income from a furnished room in your only/main home. Above the threshold, you can elect to deduct £7,500 instead of actual expenses.
