Common headaches we fix

!You're not sure if you actually need to file
!The HMRC website is impenetrable jargon
!You've heard horror stories about late penalties
How it works

Three steps. That's it.

No 20-page forms. No "log in to your portal". Just tell us what you need, send the docs, and get on with your day.

1

Tell us about you

60-second form or a quick phone call. We tell you exactly what we need and exactly what it'll cost — fixed.

2

Send the docs

Drop your paperwork into a secure UK-hosted portal. Photos work fine. We chase HMRC for anything missing.

3

We file it

Your accountant prepares the return, walks you through it, and files it. Most jobs done in 24 hours.

What we file for you

Exactly what's covered

  • Check whether you actually need to file (you'd be surprised how often the answer is no)
  • Register you with HMRC for Self Assessment if needed (UTR number)
  • Activate your HMRC account and chase the postal codes
  • File your first SA100 — sole trader, freelance, rental, side hustle, dividends
  • Explain in plain English what you owe and how to pay (no jargon)
  • Set up Time to Pay arrangements if you can't pay it all at once
  • Tell you what to keep records of for next year (so it's easier)

Real numbers

You probably don't owe what you think

Most first-time filers overestimate their tax bill. We typically find £200–£600 of legitimate expenses you forgot about (mileage, equipment, professional subscriptions, use-of-home, training). For first-time CIS sub-contractors, the average refund is £600–£1,800 — yes, HMRC may owe you.

Honest answers

You probably want to know

Do I actually need to file?
You must file if any of: self-employment income > £1,000; rental income > £1,000; untaxed savings interest > £500; dividends > £500; capital gains over the £3,000 exempt amount; total income over £100k; partner in a partnership; HMRC has registered you for SA. Email us your situation — we'll tell you in 5 minutes.
When is my first return due?
For income earned in tax year ending 5 April 2025, the online filing deadline is 31 January 2026. Tax owed is due by the same date. Late filing = £100 instant penalty even if you owe £0.
What records do I need?
Bank statements, sales invoices/receipts, expense receipts, P60/P45 if employed, dividend vouchers, savings interest summaries, rental income/expense records. Photos work fine. We'll send a checklist when you sign up.
I missed registering with HMRC. How bad?
You're supposed to register by 5 October following the end of the first tax year you owe. Missing this is a £100 penalty BUT we usually argue this down to £0 with a "reasonable excuse" letter. We handle the registration regardless.
Can I do it myself for free?
Yes. HMRC's online form is free if you've got the time and confidence. Most first-timers find £79 saves them hours of confusion plus catches deductions they'd miss — typically a net win. Your call.
