Class 2 National Insurance
Self-employed flat-rate NI — voluntary from April 2024.
Class 2 National Insurance was a flat weekly contribution (£3.45/week in 2024) for the self-employed earning above £6,725. From April 2024 it's voluntary — you don't pay it but you still bank a qualifying year for state pension if you earn over the threshold.
